As Bernardi stated: "It is perfectly reasonable and rational therefore for the state, if it is to have a role in social policy and the affairs of marriage, to reinforce and entrench those aspects of traditional marriage that work, not undermine them and promote 'alternatives' which have led to social chaos.
"Competent social policy should be drafted by those who understand the primacy of natural law and who are able to see patterns in society."
Seems like Bernadi's view is quite rational while you have chosen some of your own imaginings to decided what you would like him to have said and fabricated what he "thinks" to fabricate some case of your own...
"He's against multiculturalism even though he is the son of an Italian migrant who came to this country and did well enough in small business to put his children through private school whilst his mum stayed home to look after the kids."
Multiculturalism is not the same as immigration, but I guess that is not something you have learned about yet...
