Yes the GST goes back to the states

what most of you do not realise or ignore is that this is nothing new

The federal government has always funded the states. Prior to GST the feberal government collected the bulk of the taxes then divied it up to the states, the introduction of GST was nothing more than a modification of what always happened.

And the federal government still funds states over and above what is returned to them in GST, the greater amount of GST returned reduces the need for other federal funding.

This government is the highest taxing government in Australia's history add to that the proceeds from the sale of TLS and they would completely incompetent if they were not able to retire debt and produce surplus budgets.
