As I see it, the Liberals now have nothing to lose.
They know when the election will most likely be held.
If Abbott doesn't get the lift in the polls that they need, and their polling shows he might not win, I don't think they will hesitate to axe him in favour of someone else.
Maybe Turnbull, but there are others who could enjoy a honeymoon period.
Would the ALP do the same to Gillard? Only time will tell but I am sure the Kevin Rudd supporters will be agitating for change if the polling goes bad for Labor.
