Pete222 many ordinary working Australians send their kids to private schools.

They work hard and sacrifice themselves in what they see to be in the best interests of their children. I know stacks of low paid workers who scrimp and save to give their kids the best education possible.

Catholic schools in particular evolved providing education to children of the working class and they voted Labor because it was well known the Liberals were for helping the top end of town and not what were termed the working classes.

Those children have not forgotten the sacrifice and harsh conditions 23 straight years of Menzies era brought and they engaged in Labor politics to try and bring fairness into the governing of Australia. I believe it is likely that the many brilliant people who support the Labor side of politics are motivated by a sense of altruism and the need for a fairer and caring system of Government.
