Curlyjoh the surpluses are smoke and mirrors. When you have over 330 million in unpaid bills over 60 days mostly to small businesses that do work for the government what else are you doing with the books. I understand our debt at the moment is around 8 billion. Not bad for a state that is as small as we are with no growth, and an ageing population. A hospital that from everything we are hearing isn't quite up to scratch despite being the most expensive in the world which we will pay $1mil (that we know of) a day for the next 30years. Weatherill has done a great job selling of assets and he believed in big government (which he achieved). The government has been doing most of the building etc in this town and we are almost as reliant on govt business as Canberra. Hopefully we can turn it around but it will be a mammoth job.
