Why on earth would a mother who has sacrificed everything to forge a well paid career, worked night and day 6 or 7 days a week, very few holidays, paid an absolute fortune in tax, be paid the same as someone who accidentally gets knocked up and can no longer work her 3, 4 hour shifts per week? You want equality yet you have a differing starting base. Someone who has paid 200k in tax compared to someone who has never paid tax, they are not equal no matter what your ideology.
As for a PM making themselves available to the navy when dire circumstances dictate, well, sounds more like a silly headline grabber to me. Both parties are guilty of idiotic headline grabbers for the sake of trying to sure up a vote or two!
