So in effect the mothers will get a year off paying income tax contributing to the welfare of others, and instead will contribute to the welfare of herself and her new baby until she once again returns to work and then again contributes to the welfare of others.

Meanwhile those people negative gearing housing, get a number of years off paying income tax contributing to the welfare of others, and instead will contribute to building their property portfolio, increasing property prices and in turn rents.

Which would you prefer?
