    Can you give us any evidence that Rudd is a mad spender? Is there any history in his political life to support your contention or are you just waving the Whitlam bogeyman to get a knee jerk response?

    Whitlam's mistake, well learned now by the Labor Party, was to rush his reforms through without effective planning. That lesson was well learned by the Hawke and Keating governments and to suggest that Rudd would return to those days is, frankly, ridiculous.

    If you want to look at intemperate spending, look no further than the massive expansion of the public service by the Howard Govt, on the huge sums wasted on defence materiel purchasing mistakes, on massive funds wasted in supporting the Iraq invasion. On money wasted setting up offshore detention centres when more than 90% of refugees were granted visas anyway....I could go on and on but I think you might be getting the message.

    Bottom line is, show us some evidence for what you assert.
