Koolan's iron ore reserves were originally surveyed by government surveyors to be 69 mt (at that time total world surveyed iron ore reserves were just 250mt.
Yes, just 250mt of ore reserves world wide.
On that basis one could have speculated the world steel industry would have been closing up shop in a matter of months.
Obviously, the steel industry had foresight to look beyond ore reserves.
