Totally agree. If you are throwing all of your eggs in one basket (!) you cannot afford to be wrong. My missus was looking at buying a franchise a few years ago. Despite all of my research pointing to a big NO, she was still determined. In particular, she had her eyes on a hot dog/ice cream OUTLET at our local shopping centre. I went to other OUTLETs and spoke to staff there - which confirmed my online research. I also spent time at my local shop watching the turnover of the OUTLET in question. If we invested here, I fear we too, would have lost everything.
