withot resorting to google - the sky is dark at night because there is nothing at that particular point for the abundant light to reflect off back to us
i.e. anywhere in space, you can see what is around you (including the dark side of the moon), but space will still look black.. anything in your field of view will be lit up (to some extent) and visible
