I think Cheech is speaking the truth.
I lived in PNG for 15 years and there is not one venture/project that has been truly succesful.
Not one .... and Lihir is no different.
The whole place is still corrupt.
Even BHP was pleased to wash it's hands of Ok tedi and that was a very big gold mine.
I'd rather back an Aussie oiler in offshore Mauritania than one in PNG.
