If I were AFG's banker, I certainly wouldn't like the idea of seeing AFG on the brink of default, but pays interests on the subordinated debt anyway.
But this is exactly why AFGHA has been priced to default. If you own a portfolio of junk bonds then this should not be a concern. Most go bust as expected, while some will pay off.
