SQM won't bid unless there is someone else, their strategy is clear they don't need 100% and 2c delta says they knew scheme was dead before the ink was dry. Plus SQM would have offered Creasy Yandal $3.80 or higher before bid. Had SQM got that signed off it would have been statement of intent. The bid headline would have been, we now own 60% if they got 40% before bids.
Plus if SQM got the JV, Gina might might not have played.

MIM is busy else where
ALB if LTR valuation at $3 was too high AZS is a no go zone
Wesfarmers isnt going to bid against their partner
PLS does not have the cash for the AZS valuation, considering dividends policy plus capital for P680 and P1000

That leaves BHP and RIO but why AZS, LTR and even PLS valuation is not much more in context.
