If Lilac and Lake can pull this off it's a game changer for the industry.
Lilac process allows for Li Hydroxide extraction from brine without going through the Carbonate step.
Hard rock has an advantage through stability and flexibility of production and ability of leached spodumene to be converted straight to Hydroxide.
If you leach the Lilac polymer beads with Sulphuric acid you get a Lithium Sulphate Eluate for LiOH production.
Leach it with Hydrochloric acid and you get a Lithium Chloride Eluate that can follow the traditional brine related process to Li Carbonate.
Added benefit of no ponds, short production time, stability and flexibility of production.
So much more environmentally friendly too.
No roasting of spodumene concentrate to 1000°C prior to leaching.
Environmental footprint isn't just improved in the way brine and water usage is handled, but the big one is a lower carbon footprint.
Lowest quartile costs and lowest carbon footprint of any Li Chemical production.
And Lake has 4.5mt LCE resource at Kachi alone with an exploration target 4 times that size.
Lake will have the first Lilac pilot plant - first module being tested now - and has the resources to match.
