Talking about bank holidays but the Westpac Bank Branch has been shut from Christmas till Jan 5th and their is no bank branch between Chirnside Park and Timbuktoo in the east of Melbourne. Why has Westpac given eastern part of Yarra valley such a long bank holiday? did all the staff agree to take a holiday at same time or are they wanting to close it down ?
Just wondering and for those who still get paid by cheque it took 13 days to clear salary cheques issued by an old godger in Camberwell to his staff because he so old school he wont pay them by direct debit nor is he required to do so under our ever so modern work laws in this country.
so banks can continue taking advantage of these antequated bank holiday practices and LNP keep talking about productivity increases but not much changed since ANZ Bank with computers took over ES & A Bank which did not have computers in 1971.
So which bank can become the first to clear cheques faster will be interesting to see when it eventually arrives.
