I believe Linc did prove that their concept of production of syngas and fuels from UCG did work.

The April 2011 InvestorLINC Newsletter contains a report on the 6,000km drive across Australia on Linc’s own Synthetic Diesel.Known as the Diesel Dash, Peter Bond drove a VW Polo followed by support team in a Landcruiser Ute carrying drums of Linc Synthetic Diesel from Chinchilla.
I believe PB also flew a twin engine airplane sometime after this event, one engine using synthetic fuel, but I do not have or cannot find any details at present.I think is was not promoted as the Diesel Dash was because it may not have been authorised aviation wise.
