When the world has been struck by various biological diasters (SARS, Ebola, H5N1 et al), the sp of related, speculative listed biotechs in Australia and other countries spike on the prospect of an imminent cure or a new found source of previously untapped revenue. The COVID-19 epidemic is no different, and a bunch of stocks have gone off in response.
As a trading strategy, profiting from disasters can be lucrative, though there is often a lot of standing about waiting for the hammer to fall. The reality is that these price spikes are nothing short of speculative bubbles and target companies soon fall back to their pre-disaster trading range (BIT has done this a number of times).
Wishing such a bubble on an otherwise reputable stock like IMU, is an illusion worthy of your local primary school pantomime and one of the reasons the industry gets a bad rap.
