Cav, I think everyone is so pre-occupied with the sp at the moment, they are missing the big picture - what this product can offer is amazing, potentially the chance to avoid being crippled or killed with a disease which can be picked up before symptoms even begin. Treatment can be started early and while it doesn't offer the chance of a complete cure, imagine how much better your life could be if you could prepare in advance for such a terrible illness? This is coming from someone whose spouse is living with leukaemia and whose friend has Parkinson's. Living with a death sentence is bad enough, but to have 5 or 10 years advance warning? You can plan ahead, make adjustments in your life, take medication to buy yourself more time or even be cured with advances in medicine happening all the time.
This would also surely have huge ramifications from the insurance side of things - if they insist on genetic tests being declared on application forms - their payouts will drop drastically surely? Insurance companies would have a vested interest in this product for sure.
