I found the answer myself.
If anyone is interested, you use the stocks function in Excel under Data. I had tried it previously and could not get it to locate ASX stocks.
The issue/solution is that Microsoft uses a nonstandard syntax. See the following examples
For BHP the syntax is XASX:BHP
For EML " " XASX:EML
