Worst case: They have just banked a cheque from AVZ, with the intention from AVZs perspective to allign itself directly with battery interests in DRC. Worth it? Depends what they paid.

Best case: In order become the lead sponsor, a discussion was had with the convention discussing their suitability as a sponsor. The presumption can be made that the conference agreed that they were a good fit obviously.

Answer probably somwhere in the middle.

Unforseen consequences: Every single person who attends or observes the conference from an investment perspective will see the lead sponsor of an event that will discuss investment getting shafted by the DRC, despite doing the right thing.
