    You shouldnt be looking at differnt linux distro's to do different things.......... the idea isnt to install different distros to get different things to work, that just means you dont know what you are doing!!!

    You should be either in the redhat camp, or the debian camp, then start installing what you want into that base OS, and how you want it to look like customize it with prefered desktop. For example you dont install different distros to read different disk formats, or install Mint in order to get cinnamon desktop, you install cinnamon on your prefered linux OS if you want it.

    For example, you would be better off installing Fedora (redhat) and then running the command "yum group install cinnamon" and then it will look like Mint, but wont have their personal modifications to linux, or pre loaded with all their favorite software, you can just install the apps you want then.

    Also if you use the main linux variants you will have more compatability.

    I have to say I am like Linus Torvalds, i prefer Redhat (fedora) with MATE desktop.
