Please don't quote me wrongly. I did NOT say that announcements cannot be trusted. Go back and re-read what I wrote. What I said was that announcements are only as good as the situation on the day of the announcement.

Lynas made announcements about the starting date of the LAMP - several times. Those announcements were good on the days they were made - but subsequent events have made them totally wrong.

That's the point I was making. To place all your faith - and dollars - on the strength of an announcement, just BECAUSE it is an announcement made through the ASX - is silly.

Announcements are guides. They reflect the situation at the time - no more, no less. Even forecasts are usually proved wrong one way or the other.

So I did NOT say that ASX announcements cannot be trusted (although some media reports would fall into that category - ask those whose stoplosses got hit with the Whitehaven scam last week). What I DID say was that situations can change that make past announcements null and void.
