The Hela Province was formed only a few years ago. It is like you say lines drawn on maps as we know it in Australia.
I am not a believer in the idea that an ASX company is capable or qualified to determine traditional landownership of tribal peoples and their ancient culture in a foreign country. Particularly for the sole purpose of getting them to sign a mining agreement.
The landownership issue at Mt Kare will always be a real problem because of the way all companies approach the issue.
unfortunately us Aussies don't have a particularly good track record when it comes to dealing with indigenous people and we don't try any harder when we hit those PNG gold fields.
