Don't be surprised people if Wed's Webinar Q&A is nothing for than a module in Hopper's the "Mentoring of Leslie Chong programme", and is the reason why Hopper is taking the lead. This programme has been going on nearly 10yrs, and the issue Hopper now has is that McQualter and Canevari are showing they are very well rounded operators. Both McQualter & Canevari in short time have shown they have both the smarts and savvy to juggle the science, the commercial and the stakeholders, both seem at ease in interviews, open and forthright, both have brought in benefactors McQualter (non-dilutive family office) & Canevari (strategic investor in Lantheus), while Leslie is still awkward and guarded in presentations, following the science and only attracting the "vulture" funding.
Leslie is a talented drug developer who we are fortunate to have. What Leslie is not is a bona fide CEO which IMU needs!! Hopper himself has stated that a CEO spends more time in front of investors/bankers than with the day to day functions of the business.
Leslie has come from an environment where legal, commercial, accounting, communications and stakeholder engagement was dealt with by entire departments, she was left to get on with what she is good at trail design and execution.
The issue for the board (potentially facing a second strike) is how does IMU afford a bona fide CEO and Leslie ?
