Well that seems an outright lie to begin with. Dr Gray has a book out about the themes he is promoting and he is paid by his publisher for any sales of the book that such media appearances as he makes generates. It is entirely in his self-interest to keep promoting himself and as a consequence to keep promoting sales of his book.

And anyway he has retired from scientific research so other than any pension payments he is getting of course no one is paying him to be a scientist (if he was being paid to be a scientist then he would not be retired as a scientist).
