The Bloomberg news item referred to in a previous post reported an air crash
of a UPS freight plane which had taken off from Dubai caused by a li battery fire aboard. Both pilots lost their lives.
The news item also mentioned the USA Dept of Transport's concern.
Although the air crash happened on the 3rd Sept 2010, the investigation
results were handed down last week.

There was no mention of Li batteries being banned from aeroplanes.
I travelled by air from Europe recently with Li battery powered laptop & iPad
as hand luggage which were quite acceptable.
