Herbert Diess is certainly saying the right things and he has majority (just) backing within the VW group. If the VW ID.3 can at least match the Tesla M3 in terms of range, price, features and the "consumer experience" then Herbert and his team will be lauded all over Europe. If it falls short the the future of VW is in doubt because even if all of the VW groups resources are brought to bear it will be almost impossible to catch Tesla, China and the Koreans when it comes to affordable EVs.
