Some will be worse than others. Ionic lithium is highly unstable in air and water. There are mitigating controls built in, but still inherently dangerous compared to say a Mg-ion battery, which will, if perfected, have higher energy density. Also Li-ion battery has already nearly reached the maximum theoretical energy density.
