    The Toyota Supra HV-R was the first hybrid vehicle to win a race in July 2007...from memory it was 19 laps ahead of any rival.

    What most people don't realise is that although it was a hybrid with all the recouperative technology, that it used a capacitor for storage and not any kind of battery, lithium or otherwise.

    The capacitor allowed for quicker charging and faster release of electricity without any of the issues.
