The plans for charging stations are well under way. I think it is Norway that already has a network of free to use charging stations. With the range extending to 400km or more with improving battery and EV technology, a lot of private vehicles could be charged on their own driveway/garage. Obviously for longer road trips a netwrok of service stations will be needed. But again, with increasing battery technology, charging times at a service station will be no longer than stopping for petrol, about 2 or 3 minutes.
