Some good news to start your morning("I THINK")
China is set to scrap the 50/50 JV rule for foreign car makers. Source: Bloomberg 18/4/2018
In brief, Tesla will soon be able to build a manufacturing plant in China and will go into direct competition with Chinese electric car makers. This will have the effect of putting pressure on Chinese EV manufacturers to ramp up the speed of EVs delivery at cheaper prices. And it won't just be Tesla providing direct competition to Chinese brands. VW, Toyota, GM, BMW and Ford, all of whom currently build EVs, will add even more pressure to the home grown brands (that's my take on it).
I could be wrong, but this may start an EV war between the makers (domestic and international), accelerating lithium demand as well as creating a more affordable product.
