I posted on the Ethiopian electric car previously. I understand that Mitsubishi in the process of introducing their first electric vehicle to the Australian market.

As usual there are competing technologies BUT you can't run a laptop on LNG. We will I think see a combination of competing technologies though our lifetimes as each have their particular advantages. I note that certain REEs are used in the production of Nickel Metal Hydride batteries (though not necessarily from our mine).

The disadvantage with Lithium based batteries is economic supply. There is plenty of the stuff but not from economically retreivable sources. That lithium may price itself out of some applications due to supply contraints IS TO THE LITHIUM INVESTORS ADVANTAGE!
