Yes, lithium batteries are used to manufacture methylamphetamine the "nazi" method or cold cook. The batteries they use are the AA type so they can easily extract the lithium strips in them. The lithium iron batteries such as mobile phones can't be used.
The issue is lithium will catch fire if it comes into contact with water or other moisture, It's a very dangerous substance.
