Not everybody can see the bleeding obvious i.e. the fall of Singapore in February 1942 when just over 30,000 Japanese troops defeated 85,000 allied troops because the allied command refused to acknowledge the obvious and failed to take proper defensive action in time. Inertia is a powerful force and there are legions of brokers, analysts etc who are very comfortable with the status quo. They just don't see the need to understand climate change and new technologies that may alleviate some of the worst effects of it. Perhaps the extreme weather events on the East coast may prompt a bit of thought. Yes we have always had extreme events but they are becoming a lot more extreme and who knows how catastrophic they may become in the years to come.
