The talk about Sodium Ion Batteries has floated around for a while now. From what I understand is sodium could be a good solution for large scale battery power storage. The tech involving it being used in motoring is more in a hybrid sense, i.e Lithium/Sodium Hybrid, whereby the sodium may help to achieve a more stable battery, and also one that wouldn’t struggle in extreme temperature settings.
‘I’m open minded about a sodium addition to batteries, however I feel in the near future your choice of Lithium battery will depend on the quality of the car you will be buying. In my experience you usually get what you pay for, so things are usually cheap for a reason as are why other things are more expensive.
i am guessing that a Sodium/lithium hybrid battery will be at the lower end of consumer choice and eventually Lithium Solid State will be the higher end.
it will be like choosing a BYD or an Audi. One will require a battery that performs , the other just gets you around.
