By all accounts, sodium batteries will only be viable in short range batteries, < 400km. The additional weight means they won't get used by many car manufacturers who seem interested in pushing longer range batteries. There will be a market for them, but it's not a game changer. By the time they are produced in bulk, the lithium deficit will be kicking in.
