    There are different chemistries for lithium ion batteries, but lithium is needed for all of them.

    To put the below picture into perspective, Tesla forecasted that they will need about 6 TWh batteries per year by 2030, maybe sooner.

    That would mean a demand of about 5 million tonnes LCE per year, about 16 times the lithium demand of the whole world in 2020.

    And this is just for Tesla, 1 company.
