If they have faith in the company and think it should be valued higher than it is now, then a large short position is a good thing for them, because it means extra share buying capacity that will not disappear, at some point in the future. It didn't hurt ORE a few years back, which was the highest shorted stock on the ASX at the time. No doubt ORE was shorted by knuckle-dragging climate change deniers. The biggest problem for PLS is the huge market cap, in my opinion, still almost 50% higher than AKE on it's own.
