Samsung fires are a quality control issue Deano, happened before with Apple phones too. Silly really and all the more reason for far more stable solid state Lithium batteries to be universally adopted when they achieve production benchmarks.
We had a full recall of a Sammy washing machine model in Oz due to some of them catching fire too. No battery to be seen and they replaced ours with a brand new one with all the bells and whistles. Shiney.
It is worth noting that electronic batteries are not cooled. EVs are cooled with Glycol and the only option currently to not using volatile fuels in vehicles would be reverting to tofu eating knackered horses with kindly temperaments.
Nissans batteries are air-cooled and BMW and LG Chem use DX @airconditioner coolant which has far better thermal efficiency.
As for another Space X explosion, it was only a Satellite that died which was going to beam Zuckerberg advertising propoganda to Africa. The last exploding one had a Heston Blumenthal banquet on board. Overcooked.
NASA that sadly with far more money, backing and experience has a chequered history of more than just blowing up gourmet meals and Facebook satellites.....
Still on for 42 next week, or will it not quite get there again?
