Seems China is very much set to emulate Japan's success in entering and becoming globally dominant in the automotive industry during the 1960's and 1970's? Unless competing for the global market, the strategy for other countries is surely to focus on the associated supply chain or to identify potential added value opportunities through specialisation, niche markets or other spin-off application areas which could emerge. Will be interesting to see how this all plays out (and where Australia fits in) by 2030.
