great post @grasschoppa, IMO Rio will not bid unless TG is prepared to at least say publicly that it has some merit, his stake and the stake his friends and family control is too large to be ignored. So this means that Rio will not lob a $3 bid as it is way too low and TG and the board will ridicule it with justification. They need to come in with a bid that makes people think seriously about it, and that would be $6 per share IMO. TG would have to seriously consider that. In any event what we all want is for the market to believe that Rio is interested (as they should be) as it will send the SP northward to a much fairer valuation. Rio know that there is zero chance of stealing LTR given TG's stake and that many in the top 20 would just follow him. So next week we will know whether the market insiders believe that Rio will have a go. The other good news is that shorters will be scuttling like cockies from under the fridge for the exits and the combination means a fat SP coming up to Xmas. All IMO.
