    Interesting grasschoppa , I wonder if the extra weight of the batteries presents a problem , much like trucks , in reducing payload ? From personal experience I know that vessels are often loaded to maximum capacity and the margins ( profitability ) are fairly slim . Still , there is no turning back now , renewable energy will be king . Having said that , it’s interesting that the coalition maybe re visiting nuclear power . We need some form of “ on call “ power , for when there is no wind or sun . As I’ve said before , with many electrician friends who work at our Aluminium smelter , if they loose power for around 5 hours , it’s all over . The molten Aluminium freezes over and they can’t luiqefy it . In Southern Victoria , there are a lot of days with limited sun and longish periods of no wind , especially in the winter . As this smelter uses about 12 percent of the states power , it would take a massive battery back up to power it for any meaningful period !
