The statement about solid state batteries is simply incorrect. Blue Solutions of France has been producing solid state batteries at their French factory, for Daimler buses, since November of 2022. Their only issue for EVs is that their SSBs are currently fairly large, but they have the dendrite issue resolved, at scale.
In addition, they’re already teaming up with Daimler and VW (where they’re likely to supplant QuantumScape as VW’s SSB partner), though they’re looking at 2028 before they’re confident that the plant they’re building in Canada will be mass producing EV batteries.
You also have Solid Power of Colorado, which is delivering production cells for BMW (which has already constructed a pilot plant in Bavaria) and just signed an updated deal with SK On which includes a pilot plant in Korea (the sulfur-based electrolyte that SK On, Samsung and LG use are Solid Power’s IP).
Factorial Energy of Massachusetts just started shipping “A” test cells to multiple OEMs, including the likes of Daimler-Benz and Stellantis.
ProLogium of Taiwan is the closest to actually putting SSBs into EVs, in final OEM acceptance with Mercedes Benz, and in anticipation of acceptance, they already opened a gigafactory production facility just three weeks ago. As an interesting aside, their LiOH supplier is the PLS/POSCO JV.
Finally, Maxell of Japan is commercially producing solid state batteries, though theirs are smaller and intended for power tools and other “smaller than EV” applications.
It’s still in its’ infancy, but there are at least three facilities out there actually commercially producing SSBs, and at least two more in REAL test cell production.
Best regards
