Agree . Toyota was a late starter to the EV game , they are releasing EV models this year ( adds on tv already ) . They have a long history of hybrids , so it makes sense that they develop that path . For people like us a plug in hybrid might be the go . We live 20 k from town and occasionally drive 300 to 400 k trips . Plug in EVs have a range of around 70 k soles on the battery , that would do 90 percent of our trips at negligible costs and leave a ICE motor for longer trips. Having said all that , if a full EV is not much more expensive , we would almost never use a charger , other than at home , charging costs again negligible .
