It's easy to be cynical about this Chinese visit and the motives. For years they've thumbed their nose at Australia and inflicted plenty of pain. Now they are apparently courting us and other governments around the world to get the door opened for critical minerals extraction and especially lithium of which they have little by way of resources. We are seemingly offered a couple of Pandas, some revised trade deals (of mutual benefit) and a bit of good will in return.

Mineral Resources CEO Chris Ellison is often quoted as saying "those that own the rock are the kings". He has acted consistently with this mantra by exiting his options for Chinese processing plants for his lithium production and making numerous new agreements with explorers and owners of resources within striking distance of the MIN Mt Marion concentrator. He is now 50/50 with Albemarle at Wodgina. Whether he has done the right thing will be revealed in years to come, but it is interesting to consider his strategy in light of current circumstances. Ellison is a very smart operator and those who invested with MIN 20years ago or more have been handsomely rewarded! If he is right and the Chinese stranglehold on processing can be broken down in time, then operations like Kathleen Valley will be total cash cows imo. And the fact that we have zero link to that Chinese control puts us in the front seat to supply the west. I know we all know this but it is worth repeating in the face of all the trolls etc around here.
