Anyone who wanted to learn a bit about Eastern European politics could form a fairly well rounded view if they wanted to (and not just take in the headlines offered up by western state media).
Sure, nothing is for certain and nothing geopolitical can ever be claimed to be 100% one thing, but of all the reasons for this war, the idea that Putin ‘just really wants Ukraine’s lithium’ would not feature anyone near the top of the reasons why this war has happened.
