    Batteries the key as cell prices plunge and wind and solar ramp up....

    The other consderation is the Electricity Grid. Many countries will be thinking of expanding to allow for increased electricity use. But the grid is like so much of the electricity chain it is used most only at certain times of the day.. Typical daily load in NZ.

    So rather than add more capacity to the grid use the slack periods to distribute to batteries located where the power will next be needed. The last (ex) government in NZ planned a pump storage system at the south of the South Island - this would then have had to use the grid to get to where it was wanted - during peak times.

    Using distributed batteries, either as individual household resource or as a town/settlement resouce would help avoid having to build more distribution grid. I think we are starting to see this happen.
    Only negative for Lithium is that as weight is not too important other battery types can be considered. BUT - it is a big diverse market.
