It seems to me that it would be a pretty easy step to reestablish a local battery & EV manufacturing industry here in Oz if we used our lithium and battery metal resources to advantaged by leveraging off-take advantages to top overseas OEM's interested in a local joint venture and tech exchange. Like the Holden days, most Aussies would very likely support a locally produced EV brand if the price is competitive. I would if there was an BEV Aussie SUV with >500KM range and priced around $50-55K.
