To understand the lithium carbonate comment for SSB batteries, whilst the cathode is hydroxide based the anode comes from, in effect, lithium carbonate. Lithium chloride is what you use to get to lithium metal, but lithium chloride itself is produced from a lithium carbonate feedstock that is treated with hydrochloric acid.
